Horseshoe Crabs: Living Fossils on the Beach

Co-sponsored with the Environmental Commission, this all-ages presentation offers a fascinating look at one of the shore's most ancient visitors – the Horseshoe Crab. Attendees will learn about the Horseshoe Crab's unique biology, its crucial role in the ecosystem, and the various research and conservation efforts led by The Wetlands Institute. This enriching event will delve into why these living fossils are essential for the survival of many species, including humans.
Thursdays at Surfside - Sensational Soul Cruisers

Surfside Park
Visitors are encouraged to gather their beach chairs and head to Surfside Park for an evening of lively music with the Sensational Soul Cruisers. Concert-goers can enjoy the sunset while purchasing beer and wine, courtesy of the Avalon Chamber of Commerce. In case of inclement weather, the event will be relocated to Community Hall at 3001 Avalon Ave.
Avalon Historical Society Olde House Tour

The evening begins with a brief indoor presentation, followed by a stroll along the beach as the sun sets and the moon rises on the longest day of the year. Participants will explore the significance of the solstice in various cultures and observe how both humans and wildlife respond to the changing seasons.
AHLOA Community Connections

The AHLOA Community Connections event is an annual gathering that provides Avalon property owners with the chance to meet representatives from numerous Borough, County, and local non-profit organizations. Last year's event featured over 30 information tables, allowing attendees to learn more about available community services. This year's event will include light breakfast refreshments, opportunities to browse information tables, and a formal presentation by Dr. Lenore Tedesco, Executive Director of The Wetlands Institute. Doors open at 8:30am for breakfast and browsing.

The Summer Solstice Festival features a special concert by Still Surfin', a renowned Beach Boys tribute band. Attendees are encouraged to bring their beach chairs and enjoy the iconic music that captures the essence of summer. In case of inclement weather, the concert will move indoors to Community Hall.
